Having conducted psychotherapy since 1991, I believe
in offering many ways to help people understand themselves and create more choices in life. Instead of applying the same theory
or techniques to everyone, I work very individually in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. In my experience, this is
the best way to help people make the changes they authentically desire and to become who they want to be.
With our busy
lives, it is rare for people to feel truly listened to or to have the chance to explore important personal issues, and I strive
to provide that opportunity while helping people reach practical solutions to real problems.
Depending on their needs,
I help people address a wide variety of concerns in counseling such as:
- self-defeating thoughts and behavior patterns
- marriage
and relationship difficulties
- depression and anxiety
- major life transitions such as separation, divorce, job changes and retirement
- traumatic experiences
- the feeling that something is missing in life
- realizing
greater personal potential
My approach spans pragmatic problem solving and in-depth personal exploration,
and I employ a wide range of perspectives from cognitive, interpersonal and positive psychology to Jungian psychology, including
the investigation of dreams.
I am a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor and
a Distance Credentialed Counselor, which means I am able to work via phone and the Internet as needed.
In overcoming
difficulties and becoming fully ourselves, it is my hope that we can bring more creativity and curiosity into our lives along
with a rich dose of humor, play and pleasure.
